Description
This is a popular seafood restaurant right on Route 1 in Yarmouth before you get to the "Big Indian" going east toward Freeport. The food is good and plentiful. The atmosphere is great as it sits on a marshy backwater from the Royal River which flows directly into Casco Bay. On most weekends, they have a piano player who doesn't overwhelm most conversation but adds to the atmosphere. It is likely to be crowded on a Saturday night and is popular with the locals.

We visited the Muddy Rudder tonight with friends from my husband's navy days. The restaurant was not crowded but there were plenty of people there. They handled the patrons well. We were seated and not rushed through our meal. We had ample time to chat and enjoy our visit. The service was attentive but not rushed. The meals came in a reasonable time after we ordered and we were given a reasonable length of time to eat. It was a good dining experience and we enjoyed ourselves.
