I've always used the Fannie Farmer recipe as well, but I like to substitute whole oats for much of the flour. It makes a nice crispy top when mixed in with the butter and brown sugar, and it has been a particular family favorite as long as I can remember.

I've just recently discovered this new recipe in Dishing up Maine, and it sounds just perfect. It has nuts as well as oats in the crispy topping - I can't wait to try it!
